Cloud Dancer: The ByMCK Perspective On Pantone’s 2026 Color of the Year

Texture floating fabric

At ByMCK, we’re known for our love of vibrant palettes and high-impact patterns. But we also believe that a well-designed home should offer a place to breathe. As we look at Pantone’s 2026 Color of the Year, Cloud Dancer, we saw the perfect opportunity to explore the softer side of "bold."

Let’s get into our approach for creating a space that feels like a reset while still maintaining our ByMCK edge with some of our favorite finds from CB2, Etsy, and American Home Furniture.

Texture: The Secret to a Soothing Sanctuary

When our Chief Creative Officer Mat sat down to build this board, the mission was to prove that white can be the hero of the story if you give it enough personality.

  • The Alpaca Cloud Chair: We bypassed the standard linen sofa for something much more tactile. This curvy, alpaca fur chair brings an organic, whimsical shape to the room. It’s soft, tranquil, and—most importantly—interesting to look at.

  • The Power of Organic Shapes: In a neutral space, we let the silhouettes do the talking. Instead of rigid, expected lines, we chose a fluid, irregular mirror and a shapely table base. These pieces add a sense of movement that keeps the room feeling fresh and alive.

Balancing the Light

To keep the Cloud Dancer palette from feeling too floaty, we grounded it with natural materials and a few thoughtful contrasts.

  • Organic Warmth: The wood and banana leaf weave of the credenza adds an earthy, artisanal touch. It’s the perfect companion to white, offering a natural reset vibe that feels right at home in a Chicago graystone or a West Loop loft.

  • The ByMCK Wink: We couldn’t resist a little bit of drama. While we leaned into soft, textural white pillows to set the mood, we added a black and white snake pillow for an unexpected pop of imagery. It’s that small, playful detail that makes a room feel curated, not just decorated.

Finding Calm in the Tension

One of our favorite things about this design is the subtle tension in the wallpaper. It features a geometric pattern that plays against the soft, curved furniture. It’s a reminder that you can have a space that is calming and zen without losing its architectural backbone.
